“At Zanarkand” for many, myself included, is one of the quintessential pieces of video game music. Here is an absolutely mesmorising rendition from pianists Kyle Landry and Sherry Kim. Epic is not the word! Check out their other videos including a fantastic “Dearly Beloved” too.
A tour-de-force of musical talent, Hotels and Highways combines talents from Lisa Piccirillo, Syd and Patrick Thomas to create a whimsical folk rock trio of epic portions. Here’s a live performance of the beautiful “Work It Out”
As a return from my several week hideout writing and recording my own album (and not getting nearly as far as I’d like to have but being very happy with everything that went on) I present the amazing Charlotte Martin with “Animal”, possibly my favourite track from the new album.
Arcana, one of my biggest finds for 2010, opens 2011′s Live Vault with a great rendition of Abkrat”. I’m sure they’re using snippets from Baraka in their projections behind them too. Fantastic awakening to the new year.
Tsukiko Amano may be best known outside of Japan for providing her song “Chou” to the game Project Zero 2 (Fatal Frame). This is a great live performance of the rock anthem.
Guy & Immi’s Frou Frou kind of burst into popularity after the project finished but this is fantastic performance of “Close Up“, the only released b-side from the duo.
Get her in a backstage room and ask her to sing a song and Jesca Hoop delivers this fantastic performance of “Murder of Birds“. I absolutely need a campfire evening with this lady!
It’s very hard to find live performances of any other songs from Yumi Kimura other than “Always With Me” but this orchestral version is beautiful and deserves special mention.
Everyone on this webpage knows I’m a massive fan of Tori and she gets plenty of dollops of love here but a new heart goes out for the Orchestral live shows she’s been doing. Here is a orchestrated version of “Precious Things“. Rumor has it after the show she returned to replay three songs so perhaps although there’s no DVD, we may well end up with an official bootleg release! Fingers crossed!
Mia Doi Todd took a small while to grow on me but now her acoustic/vocal slithers are like coils to my spring. This beautiful rendition of “What If We Do” showcases her live expertise. Lovelyful!
While I didn’t get Cocteau’d until about three years ago, I do enjoy finding old footage and reliving it all. This is a fantastic live version of “Blue Bell Knoll” which is a personal Cocteau Twin fav. Enjoy!
In what must be one of the best moment on Top of The Pops, a collaboration of Bjork and Skunk Anansie see’s a complete screaming rock version of “Army of Me“. It’s fantastic and what a random collision of talents!
This weeks Live Vault comes from the wonderful tUnE-yArDs with a sparkling rendition of the track “News” from her debut album. It’s surprising how much noise one lady can make!
Espers are so beautiful, and this live performance of “Trollslanda” shows just how organically melting they are live. There’s so little live footage about of the band, its great to hear anything.
Last week Video Vault, this week Live Vault – Camille is one of my latest finds and I’m busy scooping up her albums one by one. This live vault is “Cats and Dogs” which is a normal song for the first two minutes and soon descends into animal noise heaven! Enjoy!
While HPM iss busy digesting Myra’s debut album ready for a review in the next week or so, have a slice of live Myra Flynn with a beautiful rendition of “Long Fall Down”. Lovelyful! Congratulations to Myra whom is also getting married today too.
Shiina Ringo throws herself from pure rock to jazz and back again at the flick of a switch and this live vault is “Papaya Mango” from her jazz side. It’s such a cute showy song, one to kick your legs too with big feathers on!
