I think for once, I’ll let this absolutely beautiful track do the talking. For fans of Faun, Qntal, Omnia, Pagan/Neo-Folk, World Music with a difference and something very Lord of the Rings!
She did all the illustrations herself too!
Jim Guthrie, of Sound Shapes fame among others has released his latest solo album and it’s a beauty. HPM will be reviewing it quite soon but until then I suggest you swim in the serenity that is Bring on the Night:
The albums available on Bandcamp.
Module’s amazing album Imagineering has been out for a while but the music vdieo for The Pieces Fit has not long been completed. A year in production, the motion captures robot is extremely well done. Everyone should give this experimental album a go.
Benbrick is releasing an EP and this is the final track for it finished and in the can as they say. “They All Say” is beautiful and the video works really well too. Can’t wait for the EP to burst out to us all:
Recommended to me because they had a song remixed by Four Tet – I prefer the original! Ultraista’s début album came out last year and I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into it very soon.
Kovak return with a new synth-pop rock stonker “Radiate” which continues to mark them as a clever band for the future. Such a great mish-mash of different influences.
Hundred Waters’ hypnotic Icelandic blend of ethereal dreamscapes and weirdness make me want to find out a whole lot more about them. Here’s the wonderful video for Thistle. Let’s hope that horse hasn’t ended up in a burger…!
Wow. Soap&Skin continues to utterly haunt me. Fantastic.
A new artist I’d not heard of before popped up on my recommendations via YouTube – its a great example of when you strip out the big beats from electronica and leave the rest you can have an amazingly emotive track.
Faun are one of my all time favourite bands that could well hit massive heights this year as their latest album came out Monday and it’s their first signed to a large label. Whilst I’ve watched with dismay at various “fans” shouting about the band selling out, I think it’s ludicrous to even state that an artist would not want to try and spread their music as far as possible. The single is “Diese Kalte Nacht” and I think it’s best we let the frankly awesome music do the talking. The album is to be reviewed next week.
We featured Kim Edwards last year with a lovely music video and Kim Edwards returns this week with a beautiful track “Wanderlust”. Kim’s vocals are so beautiful and so very similar to Vanessa Carlton that they could be kindred souls in the piano singer/songwriter ways but Edwards’ has a certain fragility that is just adorable.
This speaks for itself.
This is absolutely mesmorising.
Sam Sallon has a wonderfully silky smooth acoustic sound and this wonderfully regal Kathy’s Song is a fine example of his talents. Enjoy! His EP is out on iTunes soon.
A beard and lantern – can’t beat that really.
Panda Transport’s new album “Wildlife” is out now.
This is a beautiful version of Utada Hikaru’s latest track which Benbrick co-wrote with Utada. Here is his piano version of Sakura Nagashi
A Mutual Core indeed. “Bastards” came out this week, a Biophilia remix album – a review will be coming soon!
Yes Soundgarden – you have “Been Away For Too Long”
New album out this week!
Imogen Heap’s latest video features time lapse so naturally I’m all over it like a rash. It’s also an exquisite piece full of so many movements and changes. Sublime.
Generator Ohm, a great rock band whom try to stay as clear from a normal time signature or structure as possible have released a new music video in support of their debut album “Upon the Me Ohm I”. The track’s called “Youth In Arms” and features some foresty goings on!
