Dark Wave electro electro rock electronica Introducing... New Wave Pop Rock post electronica rock

Introducing… Centre Excuse

The newest wave is a darker one

Centre Excuse are an electro-rock duo from small Rutland in the UK and I’d describe them as ‘if Soft Cell and Depeche Mode came after the 2000’s emo scene’. Mixing together 80’s electronica with some post-punk edge and dramatic vocals, it is a potent mix as their songs have blinding choruses but tense, theatrical emotion too. They have been getting a lot of praise from BBC Midlands recently and it is easy to see why with their new single ‘Joy Joy Joy’. It perfectly encapsulates everything from the New Wave era – just a shade or two darker throughout,

The boys are busy gearing up for their debut album due later this year. The album will be called ‘Favourite Soul’ and it is due out on the 24th of July. I’m getting anthemic vibes from what I’ve heard already. Until then, the latest single ‘Joy Joy Joy’ is available to enjoy below with its creepy video that feels very early 90’s in a good way. Advanced warning for body parts not being attached just in case you are squeamish! You’d need a crazy excuse not to enjoy Centre Excuse. [I’ll let myself out – I’ve disgusted myself to be honest…]
