Aside from having a name that I’ve typed in whatsapp chats for when I feel like the chat has gone crazy, Skygasm are a grungy husband and wife duo. They create a mashup of grungy shoegazing rock with simple riffs that power home and then place Akiko’s angelic vocals over the top like a gust of wind. You can hear here but you won’t know what she is saying. Instead you’ll enjoy the juxtaposition of the raw and surging guitars, bass and drums against the calm siren-like calls of the vocals.
‘Marshmellow Lollipop’ is Skygasm’s new single. It really mashes together the cultures of Japan and Scotland, where the duo are originally from. Its taken from their EP ‘Fan Fiction’ which is out now. You can enjoy the single below.
