Experimental Introducing... synth trance

Introducing… Evian Christ

Trance. Deconstructed.

It isn’t often I feature an artist that is known as a trance musician but Evian Christ’s new single ‘Ultra’ is a deconstructed trance piece which I think many readers and listeners will enjoy. Evian Christ has been working on his new album ‘WARP’ for several years and the lead single ‘Ultra’ is a mighty fine way to reel everyone in. It has everything you’d want in a trance track except the beat. Instead, the synths sizzle and pulse-like they’ve got more in common with a post-rock or modern classical piece as the song dramatically rises up the chords. I really like this way of interpreting trance music and hope there are some more pieces like it on the album.

Coupling with the track is an excellent music video for ‘Ultra’ featuring a crashing wave in slow motion. Evian has said that between his last EP’s and this new release, he has been trying to investigate why the feeling of euphoria has been largely removed or dumbed down in modern society. I think with ‘Ultra’, we cane feel some of that feeling musically again. Enjoy the track below – its out now.
