Introducing… Deniz Cuylan

Rich dreams of nylon strings

If you need rich, layered nylon guitar melodies built around complex patterns then you are in luck. Deniz Cuylan, hailing from Istanbul, is a composer who primarily up until now has been working on TV, film and Netflix soundtracks. It isn’t every day we feature someone who has made music for Nike and Beats by Dre so you will have likely heard his music without knowing. With his new project, Deniz Cuylan is focusing on repeated nylon guitar loops to create an immersive ripple of sound. Deniz says that natures own patterns like raindrops were the inspiration for the work and it is an organic beauty.

The first release is the rich acoustic tapestry of ‘Flaneurs in Hakone’. The music video features a really unusual moving art effect that I can’t quite grasp what it is. It is as if flowers and plants are being formed into humans and slowly morphing through rain effects. It is really intriguing and suits the music very well. ‘Flanuers in Hakone’ is taken from the forthcoming debut album ‘No Such Thing As Free Will’. The album is due out on the 19th of March. The single is out now.
