Introducing… Blueanimal

Mental health chuggers.

I’ve always had a soft spot for heavy rock that enjoyed a miserable verse hook. It was something that Alice In Chains perfected in the mid ’90s and I get the same feeling from Blueanimal. Based in Orlando, Blueanimal are two albums into their career already and just released their new single ‘Rock Bottom’ last week. The track is about mental health and this has inspired much of the upcoming third album too. The best way I can describe the quartet (now a trio) is somewhere between Alice in Chains and Soundgarden (especially vocally) but with an element of traditional rock in there too. The sound production is a little muddy and lead vocalist and guitarist Luke Elms says that is intentional. Luke wanted the album to chronicle a fall and rise out of depression and so the battle is going to rough and it’ll be around long after the pandemic.

Enjoy the single ‘Rock Bottom’ below – its out now now. The forthcoming album ‘The Figment That Was Me’ is currently scheduled for a release later this year.
