Marissa Nadler returns with new single and forthcoming album

Marissa returns with inspiration from true crime and home crimes.

Marissa Nadler, one of the finest dark folk musicians I’ve been enjoying over the last decade, is returning with new music. Her new album ‘The Path of the Clouds’ will be her ninth. The album is about metamorphosis, mysticism, love and murder. Sounds like a prime time show but as always, Marissa will be weaving in her own life into the cinematic and making brooding folk anthems to ponder to. It’s also heavily inspired by hijacker DB Cooper. There will also be a few guest appearances from harpist Mary Lattimore and Cocteau Twins bassist Simon Raymonds.

The lead single, which opens the album, is called ‘Bessie, Did you Make It?’ and features Marissa Nadler floating underwater. Instead of thinking about murder, it’s seen as a transformation instead. The music is beautifully haunted and fans of Emily Jane White and Chelsea Wolfe will do well to enjoy the video below if you aren’t aware of Marissa’s music already.

The album is available to pre-order on Bandcamp.
