Introducing… Astrid Swan

A journey that reminds you that time and life are precious.

Astrid Sawn has an inspiring and humbling story. The singer-songwriter is living with Metastatic Breast Cancer which brings into very sharp focus the fragility of life. It gives her new single ‘Luxuries’ a whole new perspective where she sings about the little things in life that make the day go by better. When speaking about the track Astrid said the following:

“Time and life are the resources we run out of first, the most treasured luxuries. This is very clearly about being ill, knowing death is near and living life to the fullest while idealizing the state where one does not worry about each day and season because it may well be the last.”

Cancer is something that touches everyone’s lives at some point, as a fighter, survivor or a family or friend of someone who’s suffered from it. It’s a warming reminder to take in the good things in life. ‘Luxuries’ is the latest single from Astrid Swan’s forthcoming album ‘D/Other’ which explores these topics alongside motherhood, sleep and dreams, loss and the digital age. It feels like a lot of the themes point towards legacy and I’m sure ‘D/Other’ will cement just that for Astrid.

Enjoy the video for ‘Luxuries’ below – the single is out now. ‘D/Other’ is due for release on the 8th of October. You can follow Astrid Swan’s journey on her website.
