indie indie rock Introducing... New Wave post punk rock

Introducing… Pink Turns Blue

A climate action album to rock to

With COP26 kicking off today on Halloween weekend, it feels like our world is very much a scary place 365 days of the year. With urgent action required to course-correct our planet’s plight, I stumbled across Pink Turns Blue’s new music video for their single ‘Not Even Trying’. It is a dark indie post-punk anthem with depressed and defeated vocals lamenting ‘We’re not even trying to save our world’. Pink Turns Blue released their latest album ‘Tained’ earlier this month and ‘Not Even Trying’ is one of the singles from it and the album opener. It sets the scene with chugging post-rock guitars and a timeless message for change.

The album – the band’s 12th – was written in lockdown and sees the traditional rock set up have a little electronic embellishment added to the mix. Don’t panic though – if you like your guitars, they are very much front and centre. The music video also caught my attention by using various news and survivor footage of global natural disasters that have recently taken place. It certainly made me pause for thought.

‘Tainted’ is an album about the climate crisis and it is out now. Enjoy the poignant music video for ‘Not Even Trying’ below. For more information, visit Pink Turns Blue’s website.
