Higher Plain Music launches its first Spotify Playlist

A new way to discover the music that Higher Plain Music curates.

I’ve documented my abhorrence for Spotify but in an effort to ensure indie, smaller artists are heard in new ways, Higher Plain Music is launching several playlists for Spotify users to take advantage of. Playlists will be continuously built over time so that everyone can use them to discover new music in a new way. The Spotify playlists will run alongside the Mixcloud radio shows across 2023 whilst I evaluate what helps people discover new music best. Each playlist will have a sprinkling of my favourite better-known artists mixed with all the music the website covers so that new eyes and ears can find music on the off chance.

The first playlist is entitled ‘Women Who Rock’ and is launching with 100 artists and over six hours of music to start with. Future playlists will include classical, piano, indie music, chiptune and other niches that Higher Plain Music covers. Musicians will be able to submit their music for playlisting from February. All playlists and radio shows will be housed under the ‘Streaming’ site menu so you can keep coming back time and time again. I’m looking forward to seeing how this new venture goes and I hope it helps you discover new music with ease.

Alongside this, I am actively working on different ways to promote a more sustainable music landscape and I’ll share more news about this as things progress.
