Susan Calloway’s performances of “Answers” from Final Fantasy XIV have been some of my favourite live performances in the Final Fantasy Symphonic Suite series – she’s stunning live. It’s with fascination then, that the absolutely huge track has been reworked by Susan to become a haunting piano, vocal and string piece.
The stand alone single, out now, is utterly emotional but now in a different way. This time it’s lamentful, mourning and delicate for the most part. Instead of a huge orchestra, there’s a powerful backing choir montage of Susan’s and small string arrangement that never overtakes the piano and voice. It’s fantastic and the teaser doesn’t give it justice.
