I always find it fun to discover new ways that artists classify their music. Offermose says his new single ‘Sjælens Ruin’ is ‘dungeon wave’ – and I totally agree! I’ve been enjoying the retrowave and synthwave revival that has taken place over the last few years but readers will know I need my music dark and dank. Offermose offers that with his claustrophobic synths, eerie melodic notes and mild detunement of a tape warp. I feel like this could be in a soundtrack for any number of a roguelike dungeon games and offer a really delicious slice of atmosphere to them all. Similarly, it could be at home in Dark Crystal.
‘Sjælens Ruin’ is the first single from Offermose’s second album which is due out later in 2020. The single is out now and you can enjoy it below. Happy hack n slashing gamers!
