Ang Low creates alternative soul music and whilst that isn’t usually a genre that clicks with me easily, his latest single ‘Memories’ absolutely did. The track is a low key melting pot of electric keys, synths, soft beats and layers upon layers of Ang Low’s voice. The whole track is like the musical equivalent of rich buttercream. It sounds and feels decadent and pillowy. Then pop the musical cherry on top, Ang’s superb falsetto drifts around the track to make it extra dreamy.
The NYC based producer is no stranger to making statements and he has done this with an excellent music video for ‘Memories’. It shows him performing a dance/art piece in reverse moving becoming fully dressed to join his stand for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. There is a lot to unpick and you can do whilst enjoying Ang Low’s musical craft. The single is out now.
