Hailing from the great mucky rocking world of New Zealand, King Sweeties are are a groovy bass, drums and vocals duo. What shocked me so much is that on drums and vocals is Bic Runga. Usually known for her powerhouse soft rock ballads, this is a move towards bass-pop that has surprised and delighted me. Alongside Bic on bass and vocals is Cass Basil. The duo tackle pop rock vibes but lead it entirely on drums, bass and voice alone. The groove is strong here.
‘Tonight We Could Go Out Dancing’ is the third single from King Sweeties forthcoming debut EP. The EP is entitled ‘We Are The Bosses’ and should be a sure fire hit with anyone wanting some 70’s disco in their indie pop. Enjoy the music video for the single below. It is lovely to see Bic Runga trying new things.
