Introducing… Citizen

Turning from crunchy emo to indie rock comedown.

Citizen’s ‘As You Please’ and ‘Youth’ were two excellent rock albums where the overdrive pedals were all over the place. I’m sure the drums were hooked up to distortion filters too. Somehow, I managed to miss reviewing those fine albums. The band relished in that gritty sad rock sound that does well when its made crunchy. Well, it appears its all change with Citizen’s fourth album. ‘Life In Your Glass World’ is slated for release on the 26th of March and with it comes a slightly peppier, synth-drenched cleaner sound. You can still tell it is Citizen and their new single ‘Blue Sunday’ carries strong hooks, catchy melodies and a vocal siren that will get stuck in your head too.

To mark the departure and announcement of this new era, Citizen has released a blissful hippie music video for ‘Blue Sunday’. Enjoy the track below and pre-order links are in the YouTube description. The band said the album is very much like an exorcism of negative energy and letting go of all that pent up frustration of being human. No wonder they are having an indie rock album party!
