You might not know Vincent Pope by name but his music appears in Black Mirror, Misfits and Wallander among many others. If you watched BB2 between 2007 and 2014, Vincent also composed the “Windows on the World” idents used for that time. Wanting to collaborate with other musicians, Vincent Pope has returned back to his modern classical roots. On composing alone, Pope says “it gets a little lonely”. He likens collaboration to conversations and music being the language and so he set out to work with 12 musicians who all give their own modern classical take on things. The lineup includes Higher Plain Music fans Dmitry Evgrafov and Stefano Guzzetti. Other musicians I’m less familiar with but looking forward to discover are Sophie Hutchings, Luca Longobardi, Tom Ashbrook, Wide Eyed, Hideyuki Hashimoto, Piotr Wiese, Sharon Lynn Makarenko, Nat Bartsch, Stefan Hafsteinsson and Lambert.
Lambert is the guest for the lead single “Concrete Clouds”. It’s a beautiful track that evolves a curious but meditative piano piece into a neoclassical ambient drenched piece. I love how the track moves into chords I wasn’t expecting as the track has an ominous undertone to it.
Enjoy “Concrete Clouds” below, the single is out now. The album, titled “Together Apart” is due for release on the 7th of October.
