Atmospheric dream folk folk Folktronica instrumental Introducing... jazz roots

Introducing… Svaneborg Kardyb

Atmospheric Nordic folk-jazz from just four hands and a tidal wave of interplay and chemistry.

Leave it to Gondwana to find exciting ways to bring instrumental music to life. Svaneborg Kardyb is a Nordic duo on keyboards and drums that create a unique melting pot of rustic folk and ethereal jazz. The pair come from different musical backgrounds. Nicolaj from Scandanavian jazz and Jonas from roots, blues and folk. By coming together and staying in their own lanes, they like to keep their music focused and simple. Riffs and melodies roll effortlessly from their hands and evolve over time, becoming slow-motion shapeshifters. They write their music from long jamming sessions and when you hear back their music, that makes a lot of sense. I could imagine Svaneborg Kardyb being able to write a continuous album as a live one take event because they feel so in sync with each other. In that regard, they remind me of Matmos.

“Over Tage” is Svaneborg Kardyb’s third album and they describe it as their most serious and thoughtful album to date. The lead single is “Op” and it was instantly love at first listen. The mellow keys, the muted drums and the minimal shaker cymbal – it is sublime. Enjoy the music video below and for more information on Svaneborg Kardyb, visit their website. The single is out now and the album “Over Tage” is currently due for release on the 4th of November.
