Introducing… Sun V Set

Faun folk with a rocky undercurrent.

Sun V Set are a folk rock trio from Richmond that base their rock in dreamy and mystical elements. Linnea Morgan, who fronts the band, says she views their songs as “love songs for the elements”. A mixture of internal monologues and a yearning for closer relationships with Mother Earth, there is a faun-like tonality to their acoustic-driven music. This is also driven by Linnea’s voice which reminds me a little of Mia Doi Todd’s upper register. Whilst all the beautiful and ethereal rustic drums and guitars cascade around your ears, it’s Linnea’s voice that adds both beauty and tension to the music simultaneously.

“LA Electric” is a single that Sun V Set released towards the end of 2021 but I’ve been meaning to showcase it as a track for months. The trio are still working on singles for an EP release so it is worthwhile getting in on the act early. I predict that Sun V Set will garner a cult following over the coming years.

Enjoy “LA Electric” below. For more info on Sun V Set, follow them on Bandcamp so you can be notified of their debut EP.
