Introducing… Tom Kinsella

Tom Kinsella is a Manchester-born composer from the UK. Previously he has dabbled in TV and film scores for the BBC, Netflix and Apple+ such as Hijack and Our Universe. Tom won a place to study music at Jesus College in Oxford after learning various instruments in his early years and following on from scoring, he is now using that lifelong learning to create his own standalone music.

‘Back to Loneliness’ is his debut single with Moderna Records. It features and vibrant, shimmering finger flutter of a piano motif that sparkles and shines. Think Debussy and Ravel and you aren’t too far off. Supporting the piano is a subtle but impactful string arrangement that keeps itself restrained and delicate throughout. Rounding off the sound palette is a hidden choir and some electric guitar. The song is imaginative, hopeful and blossoming and a fantastic debut.
