Introducing… Scrounge

“My attention span is not what it used to be. It comes in short bursts played with some misery” barks Lucy Alexander – one half of London post-punk dup Scrounge. With Lucy on guitar and vocals, and Luke Carteledge on percussion, the two create enough noise for a four-piece with their tight anthems about modern-day decay. Lucy and Luke were in several other bands before forming Scrounge themselves and have cited Warpaint and Sleater-Kinney as musical influences. I’d argue their music goes much harder than those though.

Scrounge stands out as everything they do is snappy and immediate. From the crunchy riffs to the machine-like percussion and the almost militant vocal delivery – Scrounge is a sensory slap around the chops. Nowhere is this more obvious than in their new single ‘Higher’. It clocks in at just under two minutes but carries so much power and oomph behind every bar, it leaves you breathless and wanting more. The duo have been releasing music together since 2019, primarily their EP ‘Ideal’. The two had to pause during the pandemic but are now raring to go for their debut LP!

‘Higher’ is the opening track for their forthcoming album ‘Almost Like You Could’. The album comes out on 11th April and I’m expecting a tightly woven powerhouse of a release. For more information on all things Scrounge, visit their Linktree to choose your platform of choice!
