Whilst not the first band called Mosaics I’ve introduced on Higher Plain Music, this four-piece rock band blends together indie-rock with a slice of 90’s rock. Think songs like ‘Iris’ by The Goo Goo Dolls, or elements of Snow Patrol or Coldplay, if they had an edge to them. It’s the transition from acoustic to anthemic electric rock that drew me in, and their latest single, ‘Sing Me To Sleep’, captivated me with its disarming heart-on-sleeve emotions.
Whilst Mosaics gear up for their debut EP release in 2026, if you live in the UK, you may have already heard them on TV. They’ve had TV placements on This Morning, Sunday Brunch, Killing Eve, and Obsession, to name a few. It makes sense as I can hear their music as perfect scoring for a drama series. Typically, in the UK, that means either a sordid love affair with lots of scream crying or a gritty crime drama. Their latest single, ‘Sing Me To Sleep’, could score both as it showcases their softer side. It balances being on the right side of earnest versus twee, and has moments of big guitar bridge drama. Lead vocalist Owen Castillo says:
‘Sing Me To Sleep” was written earlier this year with an overwhelming feeling of disillusionment with life. The lyrics capture a desperate need for escape in the face of an increasing apathy towards the trappings of modernity. When Stu [guitarist] and I sat down to write after a couple months away, this song pretty much fell out of the sky, almost as if it was everything we’d been holding in during that time but couldn’t express through any other medium. It’s about reaching desperately for the comfort from some unarmed third person, whilst processing (or struggling to process) a deeply held sense that something is not right, and probably hasn’t been for a while.”
With the EP recorded earlier this year, it looks like 2026 could be a big year for Mosaics. Keep up with the quartet by visiting Mosaics’ website and choosing your preferred social media or newsletter contact method.
