Stream music documentary “The Last Song Before the War” on NPR

The Last Song Before the War is a full length documentary that shows some of the preparation that went into the Mali Festival Au Desert – a celebration of remote music. It features a lot of fantastic musical acts as well as a gingerly tread look into the politics behind it all. I’d have preferred more of that than just catching snippets of the festival but since the politics have now stopped the festival from continuing, it seems a rare glimpse into the free spirit of music was captured just in time.
