Welcome to 2020 – I hope you had a wonderful time. I’m kicking it off with two new projects that I just wanted to make you aware of.
Higher Plain Feelings
Designed to help you relax and unwind one track at a time, Higher Plain Feelings will be my twice-monthly audio collection of soothing and relaxing tracks. They’ll release on the 14th and 28th of each month and usually last around 30 minutes each. The vibe will be an ambient, new age, chillout sound but the instrumentation used will be quite vast.
Each track will be available to stream on YouTube for free, with the option to buy tracks on the Higher Plain Feelings Bandcamp site if there is something you really like. If you join or are already supporting me on Patreon – you will have these to download as they release as a thank you for your support.
For the first few releases, as I’m experimenting with new tools and instruments – the downloads are free. The first release is an improvisational rhythmic hand pan cycle and you can listen to it below.
Higher Plain Records
This initiative is a statement of intent that will grow into something more later in 2020. Initially covering my three musical projects (the third coming soon), I want to use my last decades worth of PR, marketing and communications experience (my traditional day job in addition to here) to support smaller niche musicians that are overwhelmed with the digital world.
Higher Plain Records will be a digital-only label and will feature the kinds of music readers here would love and enjoy. You’ll be able to see the labels roster from the menu or visiting the Higher Plain Records page on the site.
What is new for Higher Plain Music in 2020?
For 2020, I’ll be doing more of the same for Higher Plain Music. It was the busiest and most successful year of the site to date so I’m not changing much.
From today I’ll be adding a tagline at the top of each new review. This is to help you discover new musicians without having to read an in-depth piece. I’m also hoping it will encourage you to click on new artists you don’t know about just to see if they create music in a genre you like. I’ll also be relaunching some audio interview and podcasts too.
