Sometimes a tagline for a band can speak volumes and that is exactly what pulled me into BYSTS when I found them. I can’t think of anything better to describe the duo so I’ll simply credit The Sound of Confusion by saying:
You could call it coldwave, you could call it darkwave, but if anyone’s invented a genre called post-apocalyptic wave, then this must be what it sounds like. The noise they make is huge and feels like brute force.
The Sound of Confusion
It is exactly how I see BYSTS too. ‘Spread Out’ is their fourth single since September 2019 as they gear up to finish off and release their second album. It is a chaotic explosion of noise and electric – especially in the second half. I’ll be diving into their back catalogue very shortly and after you’ve enjoyed the single below – you may well be doing the same!
