Ana Palindrome is not a solo artist, but an Irish experimental art-pop trio. Newly signed to World of Echo, the trio celebrates with their new single ‘A MAN A CURE’. It paves the way for news about a debut album to follow in early 2027. The single is one of those earworms that mixes simple motifs and melodies with unusual delivery.
The track was recorded in bedrooms, wardrobes, and homemade vocal booths as Ana Palindrome embrace and celebrate a DIY approach to music. They’ve described their music as lunar-pop because it has an otherworldly tone to it, and I can understand why. The drum machines use knocks and static to create percussive loops. The synths and keyboards have a bumbly shuffle to them that sounds unassuming yet endearing. Showcasing a melltron-esque sound on the single keeps things airy and a little psychedelic, too. The vocals are often layered with vocoders and effects, keeping the overall sound feeling a little alien.
Speaking of the single, the band say the lyrics explore the idea that anyone who thinks they are self-made or fully independent can only do so with their head in the clouds. By playfully probing the notion of a self-made man who did it all on his own, the song offers an introduction to the character of Ana Palindrome and the questioning stance the character will take. You’ll also get to see the character in action in the music video. Nice headdress.
‘A MAN A CURE’ is out now. For more information about Ana Palindrome, including tour dates beyond their single release week sell-out shows, follow Ana Palindrome on Instagram.
