Montreal based singer-songwriter Yves Jarvis gears up for his third album by showcasing how he melds different ideas together with his new single ‘For Props’. Yves mixes together whimsical folk, a hint of prog-rock and psychedelia, a splash of sound experimentation and elsewhere away from the single, a little RnB too. This all comes together beautifully in ‘For Props’ which is has that creeping ear-worm factor. It also has some politically charged lyrics that defy the chilled back acoustic rock nature of the track. The lyric that repeats at the end is ‘A fork in all due inertia’ and it perfectly encapsulates how I feel a lot of things feel at the moment.
The single comes from Yves Jarvis’ forthcoming album ‘Sundry Rock Song Stock’ which is due out on the 25th of September. Yves has stated that this is his most personally and politically charged album to date. I’m excited to see what he has in store. Enjoy the lyric video to ‘For Props’ below.
