Introducing… Estère

New Zealand's smooth art pop

Estère is a one woman band who plays the guitar, drums and keyboards as well as singing too. She started out as a bedroom producer in 2015 but has rapidly grown over the years to become a multi-instrumental musician and performer, often playing all the instruments on her solo tours. She’s back in 2020 lining up her third album ‘Archetypes’ which is penned in for release at the end of the year. ‘Calculated Risk’ is the new single and features lush alt-pop vibes with a little bit of edge. I often find that New Zealand artists have a unique balance of edge and smoothness in their music and Estère is certainly from that stable too.

Alongside ‘Calculated Risk’, for which you can enjoy the music video below, Estère has been working on a concept live show. It is titled ‘Into the Belly of Capricorn’ and asks the audience to view various Archetypes through a characters lens. Sounds like an interesting concept show that should hopefully be touring various New Zealand art festivals in 2020 and 2021 – with a view to a wider audience travel permitting.
