Mixing up rock, power vocals, a bit of rap and some excellent emo disc spinning, Millie Manders and The Shutup is a potent mix. I loved their previous single ‘Silent Screams’ and their new track ‘Bitter’ continues to build on that success. I always enjoy crunchy guitars and drums and Millie’s powerful vocals make the complex lyrics feel poised and effortless. When a song deals with the after effects of rape and abuse, you don’t expect to be shouting along to huge guitar riffs but that is the kind of energy the band brings.
Millie Manders and The Shutups are gearing up for their forthcoming debut album ‘Telling Truths, Breaking Ties’, although the release date has not been confirmed yet. ‘Bitter’ is the third single and is out now. The graffiti filling music video is available to enjoy below.
