Isn’t it wonderful when you stumble across an artist well into their music career? You have a back catalogue to devour! This is exactly what has just happened to me with Promise And The Monster. The stage name for Billie Lindahl, Promise And The Monster hails from Sweden and has been making quirky esoteric folktronica rock for several years. Several albums in, creating dark pop and cryptic melodies, she has signed for a new label called ‘Icons Creating Evil Art’. Billie says that she often creates music from abstract images and dark art and so it sounds like a match made in heaven (or hell).
Her new single ‘Closed My Eyes’ is an ethereal Cowboy dance of haunted women. Promise And The Monster says that the songs she has written for her forthcoming album feel like they are trying to describe the moments you realise you are the last one to the party. A sad party often, but you are the last one to arrive. I think this high-noon tinged single delivers just that. Fans of the acoustic side of Chelsea Wolfe – you are in for a wonderful treat. Enjoy the single below, its out now.
