Introducing… Pilgrims’ Dream

Your latest folk discovery is right here.

Former marine and solo artist Pilgrims’ Dream (Rob Ouseley) has been making some waves in the UK alt-folk scene with his low Nick Cave like voice and mixture of Sam Lee folk arrangements. It is a potent mix and for his new single, he teams up for a superb timeless duet with Flo Perlin. The slow waltzing ballad falls into that dark folk melancholic vibe I, and readers of this site, love. The dreamy piano and pillowy strings let both Rob and Flo’s voices melt over the top of it to create a sad lullaby for the lonely. I love how wise and comforting they sound in the face of sadness.

‘Life Lives Inside’ is the name of the single and its available to listen to below. Whilst it is not clear if the duo will make any future music together, there is definitely oceans of talent to be sailed into here be it together or separately. Fans of Sam Lee, Nick Cave and PJ Harvey’s ‘Let England Shake’ will find a new favourite here.
