Toronto based singer-songwriter Michaela Bekenn has absolutely wowed me over with the diversity of her debut folk-rock single ‘The Earth Has Music’. Starting off as a dreamy acoustic ditty, it then switches tempo to a more jaunty jig for the chorus. Then it switches gears to something more rocky for its closing section. I love the constant switching of feelings and sounds whilst always feeling suitably folk.
Michaela Bekenn grew up in an artistic home as she grew up within the Shaw Festive Theatre community which took her into acting and dance. Add to that her love of music, sound therapy and yoga and frankly, you have a very potent force! I am very excited to see here Michaela takes her music next but to whet your appetite, enjoy the video for ‘The Earth Has Music’ below. The single is out now.
