Personally sports usually give me PTSD throwbacks to school days attempting to just not be last on the cross country run. Thankfully, Philadelphia based quartet Remember Sports are a punky indie band that know how to mix catchy riffs and hooks alongside a spoonful of chaos. They recently announced their 4th studio album ‘Like A Stone’ will be released on the 23rd of April and to celebrate that the lead single ‘Pinky Ring’ is out with a snowy music video. Speaking on the album, Remember Sports said that the rocky themes are based around breaking away from your old self to become something new. That will bring insecurity but it can also be a great time for optimism.
This delicate balance of excitement and background dread and fear can be heard in ‘Pinky Ring’. The lead vocalist Carmen, has a distinctive voice that cuts through the guitars and noise like a lead wail herself. She reminds me a little of Julie Ritter and that is only a great thing. Enjoy the track below. The album is available to pre-order on Bandcamp alongside other platforms. Rock like its 1997 all over again.
