For music, Nathan Lawr seems to enjoy doing things in decade chunks. Nathan Lawr has spent the last 10 years writing, recording and performing in psychedelic funk band Minotaurs. That came off the back of being solo artist from 2000 in the alt-folk space. Now in 2021 he has merged those two sides of his music together and returned to his solo music side. The excellently titled forthcoming album ‘Apocalypse Marshmellow’ ties the psyche-funk, alt-folk bow around a rock-based present and I am really enjoying it. Nathan has previously been in charge of arranging up to 10 piece tracks as Minotaurs and that prowess translates into his busy but cohesive solo work.
Lawr’s new single is ‘Restless’ which you can enjoy below. It is about having everything at your fingertips yet still being unsatisfied. The single is out now whilst the album is yet to have a release date. If it has this kind of intricate power and fun, it sounds like it’ll be a cracking rock album for those who enjoy rustic anthems.
