Contemporary classical duo AVAWAVES are returning with a new single and album following on from their 2019 debut. The duo Anna and Aisling merge together ethereal keys over emotive strings and cinematic synths. I really enjoyed their 2019 debut ‘Waves’ and it sounds like they’ve continued to hone their sound. Whenever I hear their music, I always find a virtuoso fluidity to it. The way the melodies and rhythms wax and wane feel very freeing as if things are occurring naturally and not to a 4 bar beat. The music is also emotionally charged too.
‘Lucid Dreaming’ is the new single. AVAWAVES decided as they couldn’t record together due to the pandemic that they would record their segments of the song separately in complete darkness. This is showcased in their lovely music video which places each of them under a singular dusk light for hazy illumination. ‘Lucid Dreaming’ is the first single from AVAWAVES forthcoming album ‘Chrysalis’. The single is out now and the album is due on 8th October.
