Mandolynne (great play on the instruments name) is a new indie alternative musician from Ontario. She uses music as a way to channel her own personal tragedies and trials to catharsis and with her new single ‘Hands’, she does it well. It is a sassy mix of darkwave, al- pop and rock. The drums and synths have a swing sway to them but Mandolynne’s voice reminds me of heavier goth-tinged music. What I really like about the track ‘Hands’ is that you could enjoy it from an alt-pop perspective but there is enough grunt and grit here to be a muddy rock anthem too.
Mandolynne is currently working on her debut EP which doesn’t have a definite release date just yet. Between this track and her smoky edgy Sarah Blasko infused debut track ‘The Pines’, she definitely has nailed her sound down though. Think if Sarah Blasko and Sarah Slean jammed with Chelsea Wolfe and you are nearly there. Enjoy ‘Hands’ below, it’s out now. You can follow Mandolynne on Instagram.
