“Making Monsters” is the new single from artist Bryn. Hailing from Toronto, Brynes mixes pop with, and to quote Bryn herself, “alt sad girl vibes”. This puts her in the same ballpark as Billie Eilish but with more of an alternative swing to things. She has slowly moved away from a sleek and sophisticated poppier edge to something slightly darker and edgier and it really suits her vocals and overall style. It’s taken a good five years to move from her debut album to where she is now but this feels more assured, confident and combative. Topics of recent singles include tackling feminine toxicity and trauma through generations and hopefully, this new forthcoming album that I expect to hear more of in 2022 will continue this path.
