Politically charged punk band Crass have teamed up with experimental electronica band 65daysofstatic for a remix of their track “Woman”. All proceeds will be donated to the charity Refuge. The track is taken from Crass’ forthcoming remix collection of one of their best-known albums “The Feeding of the Five Thousand”. The project started off with over 200 remixes submitted after Crass put out stems of the album for free download. That has since been curated down to 40 tracks and the collection will be released on the 21st of January titled “Normal Never Was – Revelations – The Remix Compilation”.
Refuge is a UK based charity that aims to stop domestic violence and violence against women and girls. They work in the spaces of protection and prevention as well as providing support for those getting their lives back on track again. I’ve worked alongside them in my day job and they provide fantastic support for so many people and any funds they receive are well allocated and used. For more information on Refuge visit their website.
