Introducing… Pegzilla

Southern Californian trio Pegzilla describe themselves as Black Sabbath placed under a spell by a riot grrrl witch and dragged through the desert at midnight. They are a heavy rock band that is loud, bold, and unapologetic. Flicking from crisp riff to crisp riff, they incorporate smatterings of doom metal, psychedelia, and punk, too. Fans of Sabbath and Queens of the Stone Age will be right at home.

‘Chelsea’ is Pegzilla’s latest single, the third from their forthcoming album ‘Disobedience’. The track is inspired by a real-life news story about a woman who murdered her alleged rapist. It is widely acknowledged that sexual assault is one of the most underreported and under-arrested crimes around the world. This track is a dark and venomous warning that the victim can take justice into their own hands. The chorus declares, “You’ll be dragged down to your death if you take what isn’t yours.” As the drums pound, the guitar and bass scream through sliding chords, Pegzilla’s sound balances hypnotic spell-concocting vocals alongside raw, visceral anger. That anger spills over in the sharp blasts of guitar in the bridges and codas.

‘Chelsea’ is out now. Pegzilla are touring across New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Salem, and Vermont from September to November in support of their album. The album ‘Disobedience’ is due for release in October. For more information about tour dates and music releases, visit Pegzilla’s website.
