Composer and pianist Jaime Cid is based in Chile and began his solo music career last year. One of his early singles last year titled “In Foreign Lands” really clicked with me when I discovered it recently. It is an emotional piano piece embued by ambient effects that create a vast imaginary space. It is solemn and as one of the YouTube comments says, it fits an RPG death or sad scene perfectly! I also love the music video which features music generated digital squiggles. I feel like I’m seeing music being drawn as light lines or written signatures. Jaime is a 3D programmer himself so I wonder if it was something he programmed himself!
Enjoy the beautiful contemplation of “in Foreign lands” below. You can find Jaime Cid’s work over on Bandcamp, where each single is released separately.
