I fell for Kathryn Joseph’s music upon the very first listen and found her previous albums some of my favourites released in recent years. She has a musical presence that utterly captivates from her lullaby melodies to haunted wise witch vocals – it is all in the atmosphere. She’s great live too. Returning with a new single “What is keeping you alive makes me want to kill them for”, Kathryn’s signature sound returns in this tense beauty. It’s the first track on the forthcoming album “for you who are the wronged” which is due out on the 22nd of April 2022. Little is known about the albums subject matter but usually, her music contains acts of heroism and defiance in the everyday horror of reality for many. The single itself uses the electric piano bass hit like a kick drum in a creepily intimate way.
To support the album release, Kathryn Joseph will be going on tour across the UK across April and May. I’ll be aiming for the St Pancras Church gig [ED: anyone going let me know!]. That’s a regular haunt for concerts I end up at and the venue couldn’t be better suited for this confessional cryptic songwriting style. Enjoy the music video for the single below.
