Katie Spencer is a singer-songwriter from Yorkshire in the North of the UK. That Northern tinge to her folk laden music is what brings Katie’s music gravitas and hue. The rough northern sea, port docks, industrial history and the wide-open countryside all seep into Katie Spencer’s music which often revolves around love, loss and nostalgia. Katie’s new single is called “Take Your Time” and it is a slow, smouldering folk jam full of bluesy pauses. It’s the second single from her forthcoming album “The Edge of the Land” which is due to be released on the 6th of May.
Fans of Beth Orton, Thea Gilmore and Laura Marling will be very at home here. I love the rustic warmth of Katie Spencer’s music and the music video for “Take Your Time” gives just that. Recorded as a live session styled video in a cottage, it is exactly how I’d imagine this music to be created. Enjoy the track and video below. “The Edge of the Land” is available to pre-order on Bandcamp.
