Kathryn Williams returns with beautiful symphonic folk anthem

Alt-folk singer songwriter is back with a bang.

I first came across Kathryn Williams with her dark folk-rock album “Hypoxia” in 2015. I was immediately drawn to her sweet voice that unleashed powerful words upon subdued, dark melodies. It’s a potent mix as the singer-songwriter, novelist and painter is back with a new single and forthcoming album. “Answer in the Dark” is a symphonic delight of muddy drum loops, string ensembles, soft acoustic guitars and her delicate but pointed voice. There’s something very old school about it too. Whilst the music is rich and warm, the sound production has soft edges like a ’70s rock album.

The single is taken from Kathryn Williams’ forthcoming album “Night Drives” and the album is due out on the 15th of July. Kathryn will be exploring themes of identity, human flaws and how we interact with each other. It is also an album full of collaborations with other artists. As Kathryn Williams has been releasing music for nearly 25 years now, she has said that she’s really enjoyed co-writing and writing for others. This time around, the favour is returned and they’ve come to support Kathryn instead.

Enjoy the excellent single “Answer in the Dark” below, which is out now. For more information on Kathryn Williams visit her website.
