Introducing… aus

Ambient classical swirlings of memories stolen by thieves.

A lot of the classical or piano music I often write about on Higher Plain Music might not know come from a small record label called FLAU. They specialise in the softer, feltier and quietly emotional side of modern classical music and ambience. What I didn’t know was that their founder, Yasuhiko Fukuzono, also creates music too and they do so under the name ‘aus’.

‘aus’ is releasing his forthcoming album ‘Everis’ on the 26th of April and its genesis has been a crazy one. The album will use piano, strings, clarinet, flute, voice, electronics and field recordings to create an ambient classical jazz collage of musical ideas. The idea came following aus’ home and label being burgled. He lost his entire catalogue and all the music he was working on at the time. This led to aus trying to recapture lost memories and ideas he had committed to, but also using recordings and kit that didn’t tie his work to his PC to be stolen again.

‘Swim’ is the lead teaser track, featuring an abstract slow-motion video for good measure. Enjoy the track below. You can pre-order the album ‘Everis’ too. I will be keeping an eye on this for launch.
