Charismatic and endlessly entertaining harpist Deborah Henson-Conant will be premiering her new musical ‘The Golden Cage’ for free tonight on YouTube. Deborah wrote the music, lyrics and book. “The Golden Cage” is an elaborate film adaptation of the award-winning original NYC production of this new musical about how our minds can trap us – and the magic of human connection to set us free. The production has a donation page on IndieGoGo to pledge support the production reaching a wider audience.
Deborah Henson-Conant’s ‘Invention and Alchemy’ is one of my favourite concert DVDs, as she turns her harp into an electric guitar, a flamenco number or a Bollywood production. She was one of my early inspirations that solidified my love for “genreless” music.
