Percussionist and composer Manu Delago has returned from his bicycle ReCycling tour and teamed up with vocal ensemble Mad About Lemon for a new album. ‘Snow From Yesterday’ will arrive 2nd February 2024 and the lead track ‘Modern People’ is the lead single. Moulding Manu Delago’s handpan prowess, Mad About Lemon’s trio of voices effortlessly sounds lush and warm. They have a modern folksy sound and mix a tender edge with intricate layered delivery. The lead single is crystalline and sensitive and Manu’s rhythmic but underplayed handpan is as soft as it is a pitter-patter of tiny hearts melting in the snow.
Mad About Lemon are a trio consisting of three Tyrolean singers – Heidi Erler, Mimi Schmid and Anna Widauer. The ensemble, founded in 2020, experiments with three-part choral settings and improvisations to channel their emotional messages. Alongside Mad About Lemon, Manu has brought in brass, clarinet and double bass to provide a truly wintery album.
Enjoy the ‘as live’ music video for ‘Modern People’ below – the single is out now. For more information on all things Manu Delago, visit his website. You’ll also find all the European tour dates. Being royally unprofessional – I’m eying up the Round Chapel in London in case anyone else wants to geek out on music goodness before the show!
