Olivier de Sagazan’s latest art piece asks to break the spiral of violence

How to break the spiral of violence!
Forget what sets us apart and see what brings us together.
You and I are earth !

Olivier de Sagazan

I have followed the work of artist Olivier de Sagazan for years. His use of paper mache, clay, fire, ink and paint to create new horrifying sculptures of himself over his own body is something that always turns my blood cold and makes me think. In a message of peace for the current situation between Israel and Palestine, Olivier has pulled together a montage of his work to the song ‘Je Suise Un Homme’ by Zazie. The lyrics are about how we are all of the Earth and therefore one and the same. When combined with Sagazan literally ripping his chest apart, feeding on a dead mother, swirling around in muddy pits or politicking like a crazed beast at a lectern – it shows just how inhumane our world has become.

Watch the video below. If you’ve never seen his work before, please be advised it is like all the deformed creatures from Silent Hill have come to life as a grotesque art piece.
