Introducing… Loris and the Lion

Folk-noir duo Loris and the Lion hail from Liverpool in the UK and have recently come off a tour supporting Ye Vagabonds. The duo often works with a harp and guitar set-up, but also brings piano, clarinet, harmonium and other chamber folk instruments into the mix too. Armed with various effect pedals, the duo liken themselves to Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Jesca Hoop and I can see why.

Recently, Loris and the Lion performed on Red Lite Radio, a local radio station for them. The song ‘Out of My Mouth’ showcases Georgia Harris’ superb vocal range and emotional reach as she navigates a complex piano and vocal piece. Whilst bandmate Rich Bond isn’t present on the live recording, you’ll hear plenty of his playing and singing on their 2021 debut album ‘Jorinde and Joringel‘. It’s a veritable fairy folk feast that I know readers and listeners of Higher Plain Music will connect with.

Enjoy the beautiful live performance of ‘Out of My Mouth’ below. For more information on all things Loris and the Lion, visit their website.
