Sarah Blasko returns with new single ‘The Way’ previewing first solo album in six years

Returning after six years since her last solo album, Sarah Blasko says this is the most relaxed and freeing record she’s made to date. The singer-songwriter tackles her thoughts on grief, goodbyes, new beginnings and an important childhood friendship on the forthcoming album. It will be titled ‘I Just Need To Conquer This Mountain’. It references struggles that Sarah has overcome such as her mother’s passing, the end of her marriage and failed friendship.

The lead single is also the album opener. ‘The Way’ starts with Sarah Blasko’s assured and comforting voice alongside piano before a gospel choir, drums and guitar join in for its soulful conclusion. The track grew from a writing session with Bec Sandridge where they discussed their Christian upbringings. They jokingly made lyrics about repenting for their sins whilst playing the piano, and the seeds stuck until Sarah later completed the song. It reflects the religious undertones the album basks in as Sarah wonders if turning her back on faith has led to all those mountains to climb.

Enjoy the beautifully soulful ‘The Way’ below – the single is out now. ‘I Just Need To Conquer This Mountain’ is due for release on 1st November. You can pre-order the album now. For more info on all things Sarah Blasko and her many musical projects, visit her website.
