Introducing… GRIVE

Agnès Gayraud and Paul Régimbeau are GRIVE – a duo that meshes various styles of shoegazing, slowcore rock together in a 90s alternative vibe whilst sounding like a product of today’s world. In some songs, you’ll get stodgy ambivalence that conveys the uncertainty of a world so big and a life so small. Elsewhere, like on their new single ‘How Many Years’, we have something far more ethereal and textured that slips the blade in deeply but subtly.

‘How Many Years’ is GRIVE’s second single from their forthcoming album ‘Tales of Uncertainty’. The album is due out on the 11th of October and features a range of rock songs. ‘How Many Years’ uses a tape warped droning synthy whine with shoegazey vocals to sing about just how modern life is designed to be a hideous machine. The outro muses about how many years it’ll take to destroy the system. Cathartic in a synthpunk purge way, it’s an unusual track to use for a single. GRIVE have created a captivating sound though and I’ve had it on repeat since I first heard it nearly an hour ago. Also – shout out to Shiel the beautiful doggo in the music video!

Enjoy ‘How Many Years’ below. I think fans of bands like Daughter will resonate with the emotional depth that the single provides. You can pre-order the album on Bandcamp and follow GRIVE there for the latest information and news from the duo.
